Welcome to the Rural Data Bank, North Carolina's leading source of information on rural people, communities and the rural economy. The goal of the data bank is to provide leaders and concerned citizens with the statistical information they need to bring about a more prosperous rural North Carolina. We are currently working to update our information. For now, here’s what you’ll find:

County Profiles -- For each of North Carolina’s 100 counties, you can call up a two-page statistical profile. Each profile contains about 50 indicators of economic and social well-being.

Small Towns Data Profiles -- Each profile contains demographic information and indicators of economic and social well-being. The main page allows you to search by a map or you can use the Find By Municipality page to search a list of all municipalities. Although our focus is small towns, the data bank includes every municipality in North Carolina.

County Business Data -- For each N.C. county, you’ll find one-page summary of population and employment, business activity and other indicators of business climate.

Custom Data Search -- In this section, you can design your own search by choosing from a wide range of geographic options and statistical indicators.

Links -- Many other organizations provide immensely helpful statistical information. Here are some of our favorites.
