Community Education for Enterprise Development
In May 1998, the Rural Center launched a two-year program entitled Community Education for Enterprise Development (CEED), whose purpose was to spur greater community involvement in small business development in five targeted rural communities.
The project proved successful in several areas. It built public awareness of the role of small business; integrated small business into the overall community planning framework and produced tangible results in the form of business start-ups and recruitment programs. The CEED project concluded in 2000, and a year later the center prepared a comprehensive Findings report detailing the experiences of the five project sites. To read the completed report, click here.
