News & Updates

This May, the Rural Counts team completed a series of six Rural Policy Luncheons in Laurinburg, Bryson City, Morganton, Wentworth, Rocky Mount, and Jacksonville. These luncheons drew 238 rural advocates and leaders from 58 counties across the state.  Content included updates on what’s happening at the General Assembly and overviews of key legislation involving our 2019 Advocacy Priorities.

Did you miss the Policy Luncheon series but still want to take action?  You can select from the links below to view the presentation for your region.  Also, be sure to subscribe to our Rural Counts newsletter for updates from the General Assembly and learn how you can stay involved in advocating for rural NC.

If you haven’t already, please check out our Legislative Tracker to see what important legislation we are monitoring this session. We have also released our overview of the 2019 Senate budget – click here to view our analysis and see how it compares with the house version.

We deeply appreciate your energy and commitment to advocating on behalf of rural North Carolina, and encourage you to stay tuned for further updates and action items over the next several weeks of this legislative session.
