As you know, in March, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was signed into law, allocating $1.9 trillion dollars to help America recover and build back from the COVID-19 pandemic. North Carolina received nearly $18 billion for local governments, fiscal recovery, broadband expansion, small business support, and more.
In September, we hosted an exclusive* Rural Counts webinar series exploring how ARPA impacts our state and contributes to furthering rural initiatives. We invite you to view the recording of that hour-long session here.
It was our intention to host a second part of this webinar series once the state budget was passed, providing a legislative recap of this past session focused on the NC Rural Center’s 2021 Advocacy Priorities and North Carolina’s New Small Business Plan, as well as feature a live Q&A with state legislators and our team. However, at this time, the conference budget remains in negotiation. And so, our plans have changed.
We invite you to watch a video presentation with our team…
While we await a budget, we invite you to watch this pre-recorded video with our Rural Counts and NC Rural Center Leadership team. In this 30-minute video, you’ll learn more about how our 2021 Rural Counts Advocacy Priorities fared this legislative session, important bills on the table relevant to rural North Carolina, and hear a preview of what’s on the horizon.
It is our hope that we will be able to host a live session with state legislators as originally planned in early 2022, provided a state budget is passed, and will be in touch with that information then – stay tuned!
Thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation and our other generous supporters for their investment in programs like these. And thank you, Rural Advocates, Leadership Alumni, and Small Business Coalition members, for your dedication and commitment to the rural resiliency of our state.
