Multiple churches are accepting donations of food staples, cleaning supplies and drinking water. I volunteered at one of them today and they are extremely organized and getting these items out to those that need them most as quickly as possible. Several are also taking monetary donations to go directly to flood victims.

Shelter for medically fragile patients
A 50-bed State Medical Support Shelter (SMSS) for medically fragile patients is now open in Clayton, NC. Individuals who need active monitoring, management or intervention from a medical professional to maintain their health must contact their county emergency management office to request placement in the SMSS. For a list of county emergency management agencies, click here.
NC Department of Public Safety Shelters
Accessibility and support for those with behavioral illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities: DHHS is working with its partners so that shelters have, for example, calming rooms to support individuals with autism or other disabilities, when a congregant setting may not be conducive for their wellbeing. Medicaid and Prescriptions
Effective September 3, Medicaid is allowing for early refills of prescriptions. NC Medicaid-enrolled pharmacy providers have been approved to fill these prescriptions early and will follow applicable copay requirements. This early refill is being allowed while the Governor’s State of Emergency order remains in place to ensure that all Medicaid beneficiaries have access to necessary medications. Medication-assisted treatment is available
Individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment from an opioid treatment program may take home additional doses for treatment or receive guest-dosing at another licensed opioid treatment program. Other locations can be found in the Central Registry.
Legal Aid of NC (Disaster Relief Rack Card)

Picking Up After the Storm on Pasture-Based Livestock Farms
Pasture-based beef, dairy, sheep and goat farmers need to be diligent in checking livestock, repairing damaged infrastructure, and looking for possible hazards in pastures caused by storm damage. Whether the storm was a severe thunderstorm, a hurricane, or a tornado, storm damage can cause acute injury and further damage to livestock if tending to animals and pastures is made a low priority in the recovery process.
