John serves as a senior advisor for the NC Rural Center, where he consults on organization-wide development, policy, communications initiatives. He joined the Rural Center team in 2016 as the Center’s first director of the Rural Counts advocacy program. Prior to the Rural Center, John worked in community relations and philanthropy for PNC Bank’s Eastern Carolinas Market, and in civic engagement and program development for the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University.
A native of Sanford, John received his bachelor’s degree from NC State University and his master’s degree from Harvard University. He teleports to the Rural Center from his new home in Nottingham, England, where he spends his days exploring the British countryside, hiding from the Sheriff, and failing to call potato chips “crisps.”
