Mike Hawkins is President of Pisgah Enterprises, Inc., which owns and operates commercial and residential properties in western North Carolina as well as Pisgah Fish Camp seafood restaurant in Brevard. He served 12 years as a Transylvania County commissioner including 10 years as chairman, and has served on a number of state and regional boards, including the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board, the Land of Sky Regional Council, and others. He is currently co-chair of the Rural Center’s Small Business Policy Task Force, a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Racial Equity in Criminal Justice, and a member of the Care4Carolina Business Advisory Board. In 2018 he received the Robert Shepherd Award as the western North Carolina elected official of the year, and in 2019 he was named North Carolina Rural Advocate of the Year by the NC Rural Center. Mike has both B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, and lives in Brevard with his wife Claudia.
