
In North Carolina, Medicaid provides over 3 million residents with health insurance, with 1.2 million of those enrollees living in rural counties. Medicaid has become an absolutely vital part of our state’s ecosystem, particularly in rural communities. However, recent cuts to the Medicaid program proposed by federal leaders could have significant impacts on the Medicaid population in our state. This brief report summarizes Medicaid enrollment in our state and investigates the potential impact of two major Medicaid cuts being considered.
