The Ford Foundation awards the Center $2 million to support the Microenterprise Loan Program. The program will go on to earn the U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence in Microenterprise Development in 1997. Rural Center President Billy Ray Hall meets with President Clinton to accept the award.
